Would you...

You and the kids are going to the pool. Everyone is in their swimsuits and on your way out the door you realize that you're almost out of sunscreen. Would you feel comfortable making a quick stop at the drugstore in your swimsuit w/a cover-up on your way to the pool?

Similarly, you're on the way home from spending the day at the pool and again you're in a swimsuit and cover-up. You just need milk and salsa so that you can go home and make dinner. You really don't want to go all the way home only to change and head right back out with cranky kids, plus it would be out of the way. Would you be okay with making a very quick stop at the store just for 2-3 things or would you insist on going home to get dressed first?

Re: Would you...

  • Considering I am 7 weeks post-partum, I won't even get in a swim suit to go in the pool with my kids, let alone wear it to the market.  So, I am no help at all :)

That said, if my body was back to "normal" I would probably run in the store and not worry about it.

  • If you have a cover up on I see no problem with it.  I have seen many people dressed like that picking up a few things from the store.  Now if you were walking around the store in your bikini with nothing else over it that is a different story.

  • I sure would.

Hell, my cover up covers more than some of the dresses I've seen worn out this summer.  I literally saw butt cheeks the other day.  I confused her thighs for cottage cheese but that's another story :)

  • yea to both - most of my cover ups are summer-y dresses anyway, so I see no problem with it.

I wouldn't even consider not stopping.

I would let my kids roll in in swimsuits and a pair of flip flops. I am WT like that.

Ha, that's exactly what I ended up doing on both accounts: I wore my swimsuit with a coverup that is basically a short sundress and the kids just wore their swimsuits and flip flops.

  • I misread it the first time so my response was wonky..but yes I would let them in suits and me in a suit with a coverup run in for sunscreen.

Just go to walmart.  No cover up needed and you will blend in/be over dressed and non one will notice unless POW are there.  ;)

Seriously though, its summer and I would go to both places with a cover up.

Yes, this for me too. My cover up is basically just a summer dress IMO. DD has a terry cloth dress as her coverup too. I would stop without thinking twice.

  • Definitely with a cover-up.  I've stopped off to pick up a pizza before with a t-shirt over my tankini top and my bathing suit bottom (skirt) on our way home from the pool.  (But I live out in BFE)  With a cover up, I'd stop off on the way there/back for a quick run into the store.  It's the middle of summer and is 100 degrees here now...
  • Absolutely not...but I'm currently pregnant. I actually wouldn't feel comfortable doing this anymore anyway (unless I lost a good amount of weight). Maybe 6 years ago though!
