Does crib need to be at highest setting for NB?

We have three cribs and each of them seem to look a little different with the height but on one we have the mattress at the lowest setting and it doesn't seem too low, the other is in the middle.  Everyone keeps saying we should have it on the highest setting when they are newborn.  Is this necessary or just preference?  When did you move yours lower?

    I think the highest level just makes it a lot easier to get to the baby.  I don't think it matters if you have it on a lower level if that's your preference.

    It isn't necessary but it is easier to have it on the highest setting. In the beginning, you will probably only use 1 of the cribs (since they will all fit in there together) so I would just put 1 on the highest and then adjust from there.
