Did your new baby have a gift for your older child when they were born?
I ask because I was considering getting something for Jackson from Scarlett, and he thinks that she has toys in my belly with her that we'll have to tell the doctor to get out too. You know, to play with while she waits to be born. He has an active imagination, what can I say?
Re: Moms of 2
LOL. That is too cute!
Yes, we had a canvas basket filled with things wrapped in tissue paper: coloring books, crayons, sticker books, big dinosaur, new tag reader books, etc. I said "Michael"s Big Brother Basket" and was from the baby (in my hospital room when he came to visit). He was allowed to play with it when visiting at the hospital and at home only when baby was eating. It worked great to keep him occupied at the hospital and when I was nursing at home. Last week, it finally came down for him to play with any time because he doesn't bother me much when nursing and I kept forgetting to give it to him. H&H!!
Yeah, we haven't mentioned anything to him - I think having it at the hospital is a good idea (I love the big brother basket idea!).
He just thinks because one time I said that she was just playing in there when he was watching my tummy that she actually has toys in there, LOL. Today he told me he was pretty sure she had a Buzz Lightyear like his Buzz. And Woody, too.
That's adorable.
No, we didn't because we came home with her 3 days before Christmas and it would have just gotten lost in the shuffle of the holiday. If it were any other time, I might have considered it.
Yes, DD got DS a gift. It was wrapped and waiting for him when he came to visit us in the hospital. He was completely obsessed with Mickey Mouse at the time so DD got him a big stuffed Mickey. The look on his face was priceless, like "how did she know?" He still talks about his "Mickey from Maddie."
We also had him pick out a gift to give the baby when she was born. We didn't know what we were having but he insisted on a baby blue teddy bear. It one of her favorites!
Jackson cracks me up.
Yes, Nate gave Alex an inflatable slide and pool for the back yard. It was a huge hit (still is) and it was so cute to see Alex thanking a tiny baby for a gift.

ha, I love all these stories!
Femme - I have this hilarious picture in my head of Alex thanking Nate for his gift and it's cracking me up. Love it!
I love that he thinks she has toys in there!
DD brought DS a digital camera. We had it waiting at the hospital because we knew everyone would be taking a million pictures when he came to visit and we knew he'd love taking his own.
DH is the oldest of four. He's 7 years older than his youngest sibling, and the ONLY thing he remembers is that "she brought the rest of us presents."
I say run with it. It'll probably be a memory.
We did a digital camera also; had intended to have it at the hospital, but due to the baby being transferred to another hospital for NICU care, DS #1 never saw him at the hospital. So both the baby and the camera were waiting for him when he got home from daycare the day DS #2 was discharged. It was a hit.
That's cute!
I did have a "Big Sister Bag" for the hospital full of stickers, colorform, puzzles, etc. All things to keep her busy at the hospital.
Then her gift from the baby was the FP A-Z Zoo since she was very into Little People at the time. She was too young to care, but I still look at it and remember that it was her gift from the baby
I'll be in the hospital for 4 days, so that's a good idea to do a big brother bag/basket for then and then an actual big toy for him from the baby. I was thinking about getting him a new Imaginext set (maybe a Toy Story one since apparently Buzz and Woody are in my belly) from the baby...
We are only 5 or so minutes from the hospital so I'm hoping we can have him there frequently since I have to be there so much. Otherwise, I'm a little concerned that I will be a hormonal wreck and cry if he's not there.
Thats too cute!
Yes we did a gift to N from G. However he was too young to understand it was supposed to be from his brother. He loved the gift though, and it kept him busy for several hours those first few days.
Yes, Norah got Annelise one of those kiddie cameras. She still loves it. Anytime she was around Norah, Annelise would start snapping pictures. It was pretty cute.
When we drive by the hospital, she still says "Remember when Norah was in the hospital and she gave me my camera?" Good memory.

We just gave Annalise a "big sister" present tonight. She got the Cabbage Patch Kids newborn twins.
I asked her if she thought Charlotte had a present for her, and she said, "no, that's silly."

Andersen gave Law a Kid Tough camera. He loved it -- and just as we suspected, he took tons of pics of his new brother.
That is way too adorable that J thinks Scarlett has toys in your belly!
