Dr gave me a 6 month RX for prometrium. I can start it whenever. He said to wait 2 cycles, and my eyes bugged out of my head. I said super, I have approx 3 month long cycles.
So I bargained him down to 2 months, because I think he knew I would have thrown a tantrum in his office.
He said the 2 month wait is so that my body can 'rest'.

Re: BBHME
Okay, I like the sounds of that. I'll be a big advocate of "rest" if this pg works out for me, so I support that, too (even though it sucks).
You sound the most upbeat I've heard you in a long time. I'm happy and excited for you.

I discovered the answer to the "wait 3 month thing" after my loss. My OB was very forthcoming. She said that the "traditionalists" (whatever that means in the OB world) think that waiting is best as it gives the Ute lining time to "recover". They usually recommend waiting 3 months when they say "wait". She also said that research has shown that things will be just fine if you want to wait one cycle after beta is 0 and then TTC. (She gave me the choice, b/c she knew how difficult things are for us). I am not a Dr. just passing this info on.
Laura - that's quite interesting.
If I had been any further along, I would agree that waiting would be a good idea.
But... come on. I'd be lucky if the thing even implanted. If I had regular cycles, that would be ok, but I don't. I'm not happy, and truthfully, I'm going to let AF come on her own this time, and then TTC.
I would much prefer starting after one real period than two fake ones. I totally support that.
And as for Laura's comment, my personal reason in support of waiting is that I've watched my own cycles stay pretty jacked up for the first couple of months after each loss. So for me, it's more about hormone levels (preparation of the egg, LP phase, etc.) than it is lining. Which is why I'm leery of prometrium as a way of artificially resetting the cycle.
