Success after IF

bfp after recurrent m/c

Have any of you gone on to have a successful pregnancy after multiple m/c?

TIA

Re: bfp after recurrent m/c

  • I wish ;-(

Now they're saying "endo" (yet I don't really present with most signs/symptoms) and we're just about to do IVF#2.

Plus I'm getting old, and they say it's hard to get a great egg/embryo at this age. (37)

Any ideas what's caused your losses? how far along were you with them?

So sorry you're in this boat. There's a TON of success stories around here... have the audacity to hope.... but it's hard, I know!

  • No idea whats causing them. I'm 36 so I know what you mean about getting older and more impatient. Dh won't do iui or ivfAngry So all we can do is medicated TI cycles. I have gotten pregnant nearly the last 3 cycles but m/c about a week after I get a pos. beta. Just wish I could get a sticky one.
  • Well, so far so good with this one.  I had 3 in a row.  It was awful.  After the 3rd we took a few months off from meds and did a bunch of testing.  We did all the clotting tests, and HSG.  Could not find a thing - or so I was told.

I got my records myself from my RE because we were switching RE's to one that recommened us doing IVF with PGD (because he thought it was something genetic going on - he did not think it was a problem with me carrying babies).  And I found that one of my anticardiolipin antibodies was mild to moderately elevated.

I had been on aspirin even before the 3rd loss, so I don't think my losses were related to that.  I think my eggs were crap (I'm annovulary AND clomid resistant.  Clomid only worked for me if I took steriods with it).  My HSG was normal.

So, I suggest getting all the testing done to see if it's anatomy or clotting, or nothing at all - and start on some baby aspirin anyway (because even if you are negative they still recommend those with recurrent losses be on it).

It CAN happen. Keep hoping.  When we cycled the final round of clomid with steriods before we almost did IVF, I was so relaxed about the cycle because I knew IVF was in our future and there was hope.  And I got pregnant again, and he has stayed with me so far!

I wish he'd come out already, because I'd feel safer with him out than in!  Miracles do happen though.  Keep the faith!

  • Yes.  It was my fourth, but it stuck.  And knowing now what I do, I'd have 15 more in hopes of having another one like him.  Just for even the possibility of it sticking.
  • I had 2 m/c before Betsy and 1 before Carly so 3 m/c total.  We did a bunch of testing after m/c #3, including karotyping and it all came back normal.

We would really like to have a third baby and maybe more.  I will be 34 this November.  It is pretty sad that I am preparing myself to lose a baby again before I get another sticky one.  Noone should have to go in to TTC expecting to lose the baby.

  • Hugs, sweetie!  why doesn't he want to do IUI?  risk of HOMs?

I had a 2nd tri m/c in late 2007 and then an early m/c at 5wks in 2008 and then got pg the cycle right afterwards.  I am 37 now.  My m/c happened at 35 yo.

I hope you get your sticky baby soon.  The only thing about IVF is there could be other factors to why you are having issues.  It may not be chromosomes, but environment.  But the only way to figure out that is to probably do IVF...

I did IVF for my first pregnancy that I lost.
