Dilated to 2 and 50% effaced at 35 weeks.

Hey ladies, so I had a dr. appt on Tuesday and was told that I am 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. And now this morning I woke up and am losing my mucus plug. I had my son at 38 weeks and besides a little jaundice he was a perfect 7lbs 14oz 21 inches long. I am just nervous because I am only 35 1/2 weeks now and I do not want to have a baby in the nicu. Has anyone been this dilated and efffaced this early and if so did you deliver early??

I can't speak for myself because I've declined internals, but I've known PLENTY of people who dilated as early as 31 weeks and still made it to almost 40 weeks.

Don't worry - this is yet another reason why I don't understand why doctors do internals so early... it either excites people or freaks them out for likely no reason at all.

I was dilated at 2 and 50% at 34.5 weeks. My OB checked due to pre-term contractions.

My last appointment a week ago (37 weeks) I had progressed to a 3+ and 80%. I've since had bloody show and lots of cramping, but so far baby is still cozy. So, in my case being dilated early wasn't a concern. In yours, who knows! I hope that baby stays in a couple more weeks for you, at least.

I was that much dilated and effaced at 35 wks and I am still here.

i had the exact same 35 week check up and it made me super excited since this is my first but i have had no progession in 3 weeks so it could mean early or it just could mean ur bodys starting to get ready

With my first pregnancy I was dilated 2-3 and 80% effaced at my 33 week check.  I delivered DD at 37 weeks and 3 days.

Well that makes me feel a little better. You still Never know when its going to happen but I hope I make it to at least 37 weeks. Thats only 1 week and 3 days away so I think I can wait it out.
