Postpartum Depression

Is anger and irritation a sign of PPD?

I often get angry at my DS#1. Especially when he does something to DS#2 that he knows he's not supposed to.  I yell at him and when it's at the point of timeout i drag him there.

  • it might be...but it could just be sleep deprivation making you cranky too! Are you getting angry over irrational things...It sounds to me like you are getting irritated with your LO b/c he/she is doing something innappropriate.  If you feel like you might hurt him...then talk to your OB about PPD.

  • It could be, but my non medical opinion is that it is normal. You're tired and not sleeping and irritable anyway. It's so easy to snap and yell when your older child is doing something wrong. :)

Keep an eye on it though, and always ask your doctor if you're concerned.

  • If you're like that all the time (with rest) then I think so.
  • I was JUST about to come here and ask the same thing. It happens to me with or without sleep. I have an appointment today, so it looks like I will be talking to my Dr. about it.
