I have a 6 month old son and just found out today I am expecting number 2. I am a full time worker and all my time when I am home is spent with my son. DH works on an oil rig, works 28 days and is home for 14. He is really wanting to help out, but we really need the money. Any helpful advice to ease the stress?
Re: Advice Please!
I don't have the same situation you have with your DH working away from home long-term, but I do work FT and have 2 kids 16 1/2 months apart, so hopefully this little bit of advice will help.
1.) When you are having one of those overwhelming moments (the "OMG I can't do anything well b/c I'm trying to do everything!" moments), take deep breaths and live in the now. No one will die (hopefully not--I don;t know what profession you are in , LOL) if you take a minute to gain perspective..
2.) Cut yourself some slack and accept that the world will not stop if you don't pick up the toys or sweep the floor one evening. Tomorrow is another day.
3.) Enjoy the mornings/nights with your son and all the one-on-one time you have now. These are precious moments.
4.) Enjoy this pregnancy and accept that it may not mirror your first in symptoms or feelings/hormones and that is okay. (I found that my 2nd preg went by so much faster than the first and was a different experience. I worried about that at times.)
That is all I can think of now. Good luck!
