stopping hitting and biting

G is hitting and biting when he gets angry. He does it when I tell him no or stop him from doing something etc.. He doesn't always hit or bite me, it's generally whatever is closest. He will bite the couch, hit the couch or dogs, me if he can reach me.

I'm not sure what to do or how to stop it. I don't want him to be that kid and I'm worried that this is starting so soon.

I have no real advice, other than consistency. 

 Mason hits and pushes. *sigh* He's THAT kid.  lol   Usually he's fighting over a toy, but occasionally he will just walk up to a child and push them down.  At MDO they only tell him "that's not nice, use nice hands", at home he gets put in time out for a minute.  

 Your son is pretty young, too young for time out.  Hopefully it's just a phase.

Try giving him a stuffed animal that it is okay for him to hit or bite.  Let him know it's not okay to hit everything else, but when he's frustrated, he can do it to that one thing.

I think it really sounds like he is frustrated at not being able to communicate with you what he's feeling and what he wants to do, you know?  So he gets irritated and frustrated and takes it out the only way he knows how.

You might also want to try giving him choices at things that usually set him off.  Some things, obviously can't be a choice, especially safety issues, but you know, if he has tantrums at snack time, say G man, do you want this for a snack, or this?  Giving choices makes them feel a little more in control of their world and at this age (and on going) control is everything.

I think I remember Harmony buying "Hands are Not for Hitting" and "Teeth are Not for Biting" for Avery.  I have no idea if they helped or not, though.  I'd definitely ask her.
