Diaper brand questions

#1 A friend just told me she prefers Seventh Generation diapers b/c they are chlorine free and also were really good at stopping leaks with her daughter.  Thoughts on these diapers?  I'm sure they're more expensive, but are they worth it?  What's with the chlorine free issue?

#2 We've been using Huggies Little Snugglers but have had lots of issues with blowouts (especially out the top.)  MIL just bought us a huge box of Snug & Dry, which I've never used.  What should I expect from them....how are they different from the little snugglers?

#3DS has been pooping once a day, so when he does it's HUGE and blows out of the diaper literally every time.  I've tried Huggies LIttle Snugglers and Up&Up, with consistent blow-outs each time.  Suggestions of other kinds to try?

Re: Diaper brand questions

  • Can't help with most of the questions but as far as avoiding blow-outs - We use Pampers Baby Dry at night and are very happy with them.

  • We tried the 7th Generation diapers (My MIL had them at her house) but I wasn't really a fan. They're not THAT much more expensive, but they're pretty stiff and Lucy seemed uncomfortable in them. I think  that's what you can expect when getting chlorine free diapers.

I've never used snug and dry, so I'm not sure about those...but in regards to your last question we use Walmart's Parent's Choice diapers and I absolutely LOVE them. We never had a problem with blowouts, and they are a lot less expensive than the name brands.

  • ick, see we hate Parent's Choice. We've had pretty good luck with the Snug & Dry, but Luvs have been our favorite! No blowouts in them at all, and DD is a massive pooper.

  • #1 I'm with PP that they are really hard and stiff.  I felt bad putting them on DS each time cause they seemed so uncomfortable.

    #2 Don't know

#3 We like the Pampers.  They seem to soak up a lot.  We have also used the Costco brand and I don't mind them either.

  • We hated Luvs. We now use Huggies Pure & Natural. They are definitely more expensive but they are softer than a lot of others.

We''ve been using the Snug & Dry's and they are ok...we started having leaks and realised we needed to go up a size.  I bought some Pampers Baby Dry and didn't have any problems. We just got Luvs yesterday, they're so much cheaper, I figured we should at least gve them a chance.  So far, so good!

  • LUVs are awesome! I have heard that seventh generation diapers feel llike paper. If you want to go organic you can try earth's best which a lot of my friends like as well.

  • Pampers baby dry and luvs are identical except for a few cosmetic differences.
  •  I tried Huggies Pure & Natural but DD is skinny and they did not fit her right in the legs and she kept blowing out she had the same issue with the snugglers. I tried 7th but did not like how stiff they were and she blew out of them.  Right now I am using the Pampers swaddlers sensitive.

  • I love seventh generation diapers for DD. We used several brands before finally trying them, and they are the best by far. We used Pampers Baby Dry, Huggies Little Snugglers, Huggies Pure and Natural, Luvs, Pampers Sensitive, and Babies R Us Supreme. We were having blowouts almost every day with the BRU diapers, so we ordered 7th Generation off of Amazon about a month ago and it was the best decision we ever made.

Not only do I like that they are chlorine-free, but we have had only one blowout since using them and it was an issue that I don't think any diaper could have contained. The back of the diaper seems very elastic and the poop can't escape. I really don't think they are that stiff or papery like PPs have said, but maybe it's just me. DD does not seem to mind the diapers at all. One little tip though, order one size up. They run small.

I posted the other day how I got 160 sz. 2 7th gen diapers for $16.99 on Amazon. Here's the link with info if you desire: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/39606366.aspx
