Midwife frustrations(I'm new)

Hey Im new. 21 weeks I have been going to Bethany Women's health care had my 20w US last week(no luck on sex was hiding!).Well in the last week I have had 4 reschedules! Yes 4!

I have had no problem getting into see who I booked with  until now so I am trying to be patient. When they canceled today  they scheduled me a "guaranteed appointment with a Np" Someone I have never seen before. Really frustrating,I do not want to transfer to an OB because I feel like I have a better chance of having the birth type I want with a CNM but WOW,Is this a common problem in obstetrics in general? Is this just something I will have to deal with or is this as unacceptable as it feels? I hope it is a fluke.I do know that one of the CNMs (my fave) has a husband on transplant list or something(I follow her on twitter) so I think I will avoid scheduling with her in the future. Sucks because she is so cool,but if I can't get into see her there isn't much point,right?

aw i'm sorry to hear of the problems you're having. i've read a lot of reviews about that office and have seen a lot of negative feedback. are you trying to deliver at st josephs?

Yikes- I looked into them because I wanted to do the MW/ birthing center or hospital thing and I couldn't find much of anyone in town and my old OB is now practicing there.

I ended up just going with an OB much closer to my house which has been good since I hear nothing but good things about Scottsdale Healthcare Shea. But, my last appt was rescheuled 3 times and then when I got there, they warned me it would be a while and asked if I wanted to reschedule. Well, I knew my Dr had a c-section the next day and would be out of town the whole next week, so I declined and waited. I was one of the last appts of the day, so I think they really wanted me to reschedule. The Dr told me he had a delivery earlier that day which backed him up. I think it is a common thing in Obstetrics.

They deliver at Phx Baptist.

I haven't had any trouble up to now but its very frustrating. I love the 4 midwives I have had appointments with I think it MAY be a office issue? i really hate it when that happens...I just feel like I am getting further along and that when you REALLY need to watch things. I will ask them when i go in on friday. If they cancel again I will just go up there and talk to the office manager. I hate to transfer car to an OB...

I haven't used a CNM before, but I have had 8 pregnancies, and I have only ever had one appointment cancel or rescheduled.  I would talk to the office manager when you go in, or just ask the MW if this is standard practice.  How long has it been since your last appointment?

That would be real frustrating, I hope you are able to straighten things out with the office.  I haven't had to reschedule any appointments yet with my ob and he delivers at both St. Joes and Good Sam, so I've been counting my lucky stars.

I did get in today and saw a NP. Which went fine. I did ask the office staff what the issue had been and they apologized and said the office had just been insanely busy plus tons of deliveries.I will suspend judgment until I see how thing proceed . I AM happy that they are scheduling another U/S I guess because i am larger there were some organs that could not be visualized. Is this what I see referred to as a level 2? Had Some blood drawn to recheck my TSH and Iron levels.. Thanks for the Input ladies.

I go to Bethany Women's & I normally never have an issue there. I show up early for appts and I've only had to wait a while one time. Other than that they are always on time & really nice to me. I had a hard time when my Dr. left the practice and they switched me to the midwives, but now that I have met them all I am more comfortable.

I am really hoping it is a fluke as it seems because I really like everything else about this practice... from the birth stories I think it is exactly what I want in a birth experience.. You are getting so close! how exciting!
