I could be grasping at straws here...wishful thinking and all that...but I have to ask. Is there anything I can do about my back pain? My back is bowing really badly now since I am carrying the baby so high and my belly is pretty pointy and heavy. With Sophia, I got more wide so I don't remember this problem. I have a special seat back cushion at work for extra support. I sit with my feet flat. I sleep on my side at night with a pillow in between my knees but still...at this time of day my back starts aching furiously. I am ready to take a Tylenol. I also am calling a massage therapist to make regular appointments with her since she comes to the office.
Any other ideas?
Re: Solutions for back pain?
I should ask my doctor. The research I have done on those all points to staying away from them while pregnant due the main ingredient being Camphor. But you are right - I will make a note to ask anyway. Thanks, Eli!
I know, most of them do have camphor as the main ingredient : ( I hope your doc says it's ok or maybe has a recommendation for a cream that doesn't have camphor.
Oh and another thing I remembered - Orthopedic shoes make a huuuuge difference! I didn't realize how much my flip flops and work flats were killing my back until I bought a few pairs from Aerosoles and Naturalizer.
Acupuncture?
My back starts to hurt at the end of the day, so I know what you are going through. Hope it gets better.

What about one of those belly support bands? I can't remember the name.
Make sure you try to keep your posture in alignment (as much as possible), get up and take breaks b/c I know sitting at a computer doesn't help.
Sorry
I had major back pains with my belly! I used one of the belly suports (can't remember the name of the one I used) but as much as I hated wearing it it was worth it, my back seriously felt much better. I wore it after being rec by my Dr.
I've been dealing with terrible back pain and sciatica so my OB prescribed physical therapy for me at 28 weeks. I go 2x a week and get a deep tissue massage, then learn stretches and exercises to help alleviate the pressure and pain and improve my posture. My 1-hour session ends with 10 minutes of icing and relaxing. I love it and it has helped me so much. When I first started, I couldn't put my pants on without crying. It was awful. Now, even though I can no longer fit into my pants, I'm pretty sure I could put them on without crying. It is not a miracle cure but it helps that I now know what to do when the pain starts up.
You can also try a heating pad (the kind you microwave). I use one every night before bed. Some of my friends recommend prenatal yoga too but I haven't tried it.
Hope you are able to get some relief soon!
I've actually been wanting to do the prenatal yoga! I found the schedule, but not the time to go.
I was recommended one place in the Gables... anyone interested in attending w/ me? I can only make it Sat AM, or wkday 6pm or later.

Be careful with the yoga! My friend was doing the prenatal yoga classes in the Gables and got hurt doing a certain move. Apparently, the instructor went a little overboard that day, but other than that she liked attending the classes.
Wow, not good. I've heard great things about this place too from different sources.

I was going to say yoga! I went to prenatal plus yoga (Debra) in the Gables every week (almost) for both pregnancies, and I LOVED it. I really felt the difference on the few weeks I didn't go. Definitely worth it!
I also used the belly support band at the end of my first pregnancy. It helped during the day, but by the time I got home from work, it felt great to take it off, too. And the heating pad was great!
