abdominal pain 4 months after C/S?

Hi- Let me just say first that I know I am a total idiot.  I lifted a very heavy box of books about 2 weeks ago, and I had abdominal pain right after. The pain faded after a day or 2 but it never really went away, it seemed like it moved to just my right side of my abdomen, behind my incision site, and it seems like it's gotten worse over the last week. It's not a sharp pain, more of a dull ache, but pretty uncomfortable.  Last week I only felt pain when I sat a certain way. Now I'm feeling it pretty much every time I sit, but also I felt it while I was standing at my kitchen sink yesterday and last night while lying on my back in bed. I called my OB for an appointment and got one with the nurse today. I honestly don't remember hearing anything about heavy lifting 4+ months after a c-section, but in hindsight, I guess it was a stupid move. Has anyone had any similar issues- pain 4+ months after C/S??

Thank you in advance for your reply!!

  • I shoveled over a foot of snow (not sure what I was thinking?!?) about 3.5 months post c/s. I too checked in with my OB. All was ok. Glad you got an appt to be safe. Hope you feel better soon, too!!

  • It is probably good to have it checked just to be on the safe side.

At 8 months, I still have pain on the right side of my scar.  I had wondered if it was my appendix, but I think it is just from me lifting DS who is now over 22lbs while it is still healing since I have no other symptoms and it comes and goes.

  • Definately a good idea to have it checked.

It could be as simple as you pulling a muscle or pulling on the scar tissue (adhesions) that were/are forming in that area (which could take a some time to stop being painful), but could be as complex as a hernia or something internal and unrelated to your c/s.  Hope you feel better!
