sleep help please

I know this topic was so yesterday, but I really can't take it any more.  Josh goes to bed between 7 and 8 pm and sleeps until around midnight.  At that point, hell begins.  He was up last night at 12, 1:15, 2:45, 3:30 (got fed here), 6, and 7 for the day (he went down a couple of minutes ago for his morning nap).  He is way too young for any sort of official sleep training obviously, but is there anything you guys can think of to help him learn to self soothe?  When I say "he was up," I mean he cried until we put the pacifier in; he then sucks for 5-15 minutes or so and goes back to sleep.  Feeding him doesn't help (tried this the other night) and he has always slept in his crib or the swing (for naps during the day) as when we tried putting him with us he grunted so much in his sleep that he kept us up anyway and didn't seem to be sleeping that much better anyway.  He gets swaddled for sleeping although he breaks free more times than not.  He's not a great napper during the day either but I don't care so much about that.  Anyone? please!

Re: sleep help please

  • I had the same problem with DD but later on and it was more related to developmental wakefulness.  Does he fall asleep in your arms or do yo put him down sleepy?  I may try working on putting down sleepy if he doesn't do this already.  However if it is the pacifier he wants that is a hard one.

  • He doesn't transfer so even if he falls asleep in my arms, he wakes up when he gets put in the crib and we just pop in the pacifier until he sleeps.  Can't wean off the pacifier either since that's the only thing that calms him down.  (btw, I replied to your email)
  • gotta love the pacifier until they wake up and realize they don't have it anymore.  DD also loves her pacifier.  I'm not sure what to tell you.
