I obviously have a very relaxed pedi. He's very friendly, but has never had a 'discussion' with me about anything. Doesn't talk about milestones, just has asked a few random 'does she ...' questions.
When we went for her appt last week (4.75 months) he asked what she was eating. He'd started her on cereal at 2 months for hunger. I told him that we'd tried some fruits and veggies as well. He said great, she's more than ready for them... then he told us to skip the jars of food and just cut or mash up whatever we are eating and give that to her. I thought that was a little weird, since I usually hear moms on here mentioning 'table foods' much later. Is this what everyone was referring to?
Either way, last night, we gave her mashed up potatoes, whole peas that we cut in half and green beens that we cut into little slices. She did really really well with all of them. I rinsed them to get most of the salt etc off, since they were canned. She chews and chews with her little gums.
I know I already did it, so apparently I don't have a big problem with him telling us to do this... but does anyone have any thoughts on this subject, why it is or isn't smart/healthy?
