So my blood pressure went up to 179, she did it again and it was 172, so not the direction it is supposed to be going in at all.
I went into the room and seen a rocking chair (which I have a phobia of, I don't get it), and so that didn't help, and as she is doing my bp she tells me I am positive for strep b.
I have to go back on Friday to get my bp done again, I am not exactly sure what will happen. She did tell me that the only way to stop this is for me to deliever, so I am kind of preparing myself to go in on Friday and to be having a kid this weekend.
I said how where I deliever there is 4 different doctors, well I got a med student who is only there for 2 weeks and the actual doctor didn't even bother to introduce herself. I was pissed about this because I have a feeling she is the one on for the weekend.
I left the appointment in tears. I have hardly been emotional this entire pregnancy but this last week I am having a harder time. I feel like my body is failing me after doing so good.
Thanks though ladies for the vibes, maybe they just take a little longer to make it up north and they will be arriving before Friday and I won't have to worry anymore.
Re: F/u To BP Vibes
Oh, no! I'm so sorry Teresa! I really hope that it goes down. So does it sound like they are going to induce you on Friday if it's not down?
I read an article not long ago that said to avoid hospitals like the plague in July because that's when all of the new med students, residents, etc. start. Apparently there is even an increase in the percentages of deaths in hospitals in July. All I could think was, great, so where should I have my baby at then? No one told me hold off on TTC during the month of October!
I must admit that you are the first person that I've ever heard of that has a rocking chair phobia.
I was wondering how you did. Hopefully your bp will go down by Friday, I'll keep the vibes coming. That stinks that the dr didn't even introduce herself, maybe another dr will br there Friday.
I'm sorry. Boo. Hopefully it will come down. Are you thinking the chair making you anxious may have skewed it?
As for the questions you still have, can you call the place and ask to speak with someone and just explain that you forgot to ask some things when you were there. Being anxious over unaswered questions is a stress you should not have to have right not.
Big hugs!
Maybe they want to keep a close eye on your bp and urine to check for protein in case of Pre-E?
I'm sorry your appt. didn't go well. *Vibes* your bp goes down by Friday!

This is just what I was thinking! You poor July girls are having an awful time lately.
Don't stress! It will just make your b/p worse. And I agree, if you have questions call the office and ask. Good luck!
I would monitor my bp at home and record it. My OB said do this every day 3 times a day. It is highest in the morning always. Lay on your left side every chance you get and avoid salt like the plague, as well as drink plenty of water. I held off delivering for 2 weeks with this and bed rest. Hopefully you can make it longer than Friday with this.
Did they schedule a biophysical? If not, then they likely think you are term. DS came out at 36w but was 38w2d developmentally, which they considered full term developmentally. More vibes your way!
I had an u/s at 35w6d and I measured 3 days ahead so I think they are good with me being full term. I would love to call them to ask the questions, except the fact that a) my regular dr is on holidays this week b) clinic is only on Tuesday so it would be a nurse I would talk to. They didn't even give me a time to show up on Friday, just show up and get my bp done. My aunt is a nurse at the hospital and figures that there is an induction scheduled that day, and that the dr will likely see me at that point. Apparently she couldn't get off her butt to see me today when I was there.
Hopefully the rest of the July girls don't have any more bad days this week.
Honestly if you feel like crying then do so. Having a high BP is stressful on its own because its scary. Remember you can ALWAYS refuse to be seen by a medical student but it may mean that you have to wait longer to be seen (this told to me by friends that have been through med school). If the doc didn't come and see you there may have actually been a good reason. I had a normal 30 week appointment today and saw the nurse practitioner instead of my normal OB doc almost an hour after my appointment time and it was because my OB doc was trying to get out the door to perform an emergency c-section at one of the two hospitals she goes to. So while I hated waiting that long, I try to be understanding because I'd want someone to be understanding if it was me needing that emergency c-section causing the commotion.
And even if you only talk to the nurse, call and ask questions anyway about who's on call for the weekend, what to expect, and what time tends to be a good time for you to come in for the BP screening. That way you'll feel more in control of your situation. And if something like rocking chairs bothers you, that's going to stress you out and make things worse (although not 179 more than likely) so mention that to the practitioner you're seeing and see if you can change rooms to relax a bit. They are used to white coat syndrome so honestly its no weirder than that.
GL & sending lots of vibes!
I'm sorry your appointment didnt go well. I can't believe the doctor never introduced herself. Anytime I've had a med student in on an exam the doctor always asked if it was okay for them to sit in or do the exam before they actually did it. That's NUTS!
::VIBES::: that your BP goes down and you and the baby are both okay.
Lots of vibes that your BP starts to behave itself! I'm sorry your appt didn't go so well, but I agree with pp - you don't HAVE to have that med student if you don't want her there.
T&P that your BP is fine by Friday. Maybe tell them that rocking chairs freak you out so that it's gone when you get there? *HUG*
