3rd Trimester

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea Recipe

Since there's been some talk about RRLT lately, I thought that I'd post the recipe that my midwives gave me.  It is REALLY delicious!  And, I've found that the fresh mix tastes much better than the store-bought one.

My midwives recommend: 1st Tri - 1-2 cups a day; 2nd Tri - 2-3 cups; 3rd Tri - 3-4 cups.  It's used for "uterine toning," but you have to be careful.  Some women are more susceptible to contractions with it!

Here's the recipe (any herbal store should mix this up for you):

-2 parts red rasberry leaf (uterine tonic - rich in vitamin C)

-2 parts nettle leaf (supports kidneys)

-1 part dandelion root and leaf (supports liver)

-1 part alfalfa (digestive enzymes)

-1 part oatstraw (calcium & magnesium)

-1/2 part rose hips (vitamin C)

-1/4 part spearmint (mainly for flavor)

Directions: Put a handful of this into a quart far.  Fill with boiling water and cover.  Let it steep at least 8 hours (or overnight).  Strain the herbs and store in the refrigerator.

I mix 1/2 tea + 1/2 unsweetened cranberry juice and I LOVE it!
