NBR: question about herbs

I am really really horrible when it comes to growing things.  DH and DS gave me this nice herb garden for Mother's Day and I just can't use it fast enough.  Should I be collecting the herbs and doing something with them, like freezing?  Or will they be okay awhile continuing to grow in the pot.  If I freeze them, do I use the frozen herbs the same as fresh herbs????  TIA!

it is better to dry them out than to freeze them. what i do is make something that uses a lot of herbs that freezes well. my basil is always out of control crazy so i make big batches of homemade pesto and freeze it to use in the fall/winter. yum!

Ditto on drying them instead. The only herb I hear that freezes well is cilantro and I would only use frozen cilantro if I'm going to throw it something that would be heated through.

I too make huge batches of pesto and freeze for a later time.
