To me it's the most original/widely accepted spelling. If you Google Emeline, you'll get mostly current names - Facebook, Flickr etc. There's one sad one with Oregon pioneers though - not a good read.

It's not in the top 1000 names which has always appealed to me, but it's just so pretty when you call it out loud too.

I really disliked this name (my friend named her daughter Emmeline almost 2 years ago), but it's really grown on me.

I see Emmaline as the Americanized version - with the familiar root, Emma.
