Help....Newbie Charting Question

Ok....everything that I have read says don't take your temp for the first 5 days of your cyle.  AF is still present at day 8.  I have taken my temp for the last three days.  Am I supposed to chart it or am I supposed to only start charting once AF has left?

Also, today my temp was 96.5 which seems very low.  Does this seem low to anybody else.  I thought it was supposed to be in the 97 to 98 range.

Obviously I am still very new to all of this.  I would appreciate any help. Confused

 Thanks!

Re: Help....Newbie Charting Question

  • I take my temp every day and put it in my chart, even during AF, but that's just me (though I don't take much stock in the temperatures during AF, since they're usually all over the place).  I would say yes, chart your temps from now on.  If you take your temp and chart every day for a few cycles, you'll start to see patterns which will better tell you when you do or don't need to take/chart temps.

I've gotten temps in the 96's.  It's not unusual, for me anyway.  I wouldn't worry about it.  The main thing is to watch for patterns.  Over time you will be able to tell if this is a truly low temperature or perfectly normal for you.

Good luck and have fun charting!

Kiki is wise!  I will say though that my temps tend to be low when my body is not cooperating with me...  When I was ovulating last summer my temps were in the high 96's and the low 67's....  I've even gotten some 95's....  Also, if you happen to sleep with your mouth open, you can get a lower temp...
