Success after IF

Update on us

Amelia has become a breastfeeding champ!! Thank you nipple shield!!

Amelia sleeps good chunks of sleep, sometimes as much as 4 hrs over night!

Lilah is testing the limits BIG BIG time.  She tries to be gentle with her sister, but then smacks her in the face (cat style).  Every so often she does hit her on purpose for a rise out of Mommy and Daddy.  She also now pinches us when we push her hand away from anything!! FUN STUFF!

Overall this is going well.  DH goes back to work tomorrow.  Lilah is in daycare part time M-W-Th for like 6ish hours.  So I won't have both girls all day, but will for a few afternoon hours and morning hours.

So the biggest issue we have is trying to protect a newborn from her bully sister!  :(

I hope you are all doing well.  Internet time is pretty non-existant these days. I do check in and read as much as I can.

  • Glad to hear things are going well at home, even with Lilah trying to bully her little sister. I hope that gets better soon.
  • So glad to hear that things are going well!  I promise it WILL get better with Lilah.  We were so just there.  :)  It is such a big adjustment, but keeping Lilah's schedule as normal as possible and giving her as much one-on-one attention as you can is a big help.  It also might help to include her in baby stuff -- like have her grab diapers for you when you change the baby, bring you a bib, etc. Praise her like CRAZY whenever she does anything gentle or helpful.  Whisper (loudly) to the baby about what a great big sister Lilah is.

I hear you on that one!  DS sees me burping DD, and "helps" not so gently.  We also have the behavior issues with DS - it is exhausting.

I am glad things are going better for you guys with the BFing!

  • I worry about this, but I know it's all normal and natural and will work itself out eventually.  Glad BFing is going well!  The nipple shield was my friend for the first couple of months!

  • Glad things are going well with bfing.  Yikes about the bully thing.. hopefully that will be over SOON.
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • Glad you are doing well! Obviously no personal experience but several of my friends with a 2 year age gap have noted their older acting out MAJORLY when baby #2 came, but I think most scaled back a bit within a couple months. Hoping the same holds true for Lilah!
