Potty Training

Relieved she's making progress

We started the 3 day potty training method with DD#1 on Saturday.  As of 6 p.m. last night on day 3 I was starting to feel like we weren't really getting anywhere, although I guess she was telling us after she peed her in pants that she went (didn't tell us the first few times she did it) or we caught her and got her on the potty for part of it.  But then she had a pretty major break through.  She told me 3 times she had to go poop -- she peed the first 2 times on the potty and then the 3rd time she actually pooped on the potty right before bed!  I figured we'd have a poop accident before she actually pooped on the potty.  She had her 3rd night with no accident and even called out to me while sleeping to tell me she had to pee (which she did on the potty at 2 in the morning).  And now, while typing this, she told us she had to pee and went on the potty.  I am so relieved!!!  I was starting to second guess my instinct that she was ready to potty train.  YAY!!

Thanks!  Congrats on your upcoming LO!  I haven't been on a national board in forever so I'm just now catching that you got a BFP!

  • That's great!  Hopefully she'll keep it up.  So you have her in underwear at night too?  We haven't tried that yet.  Eli is still waking up soaked in the mornings.

  • Yeah, we went all out with the underwear.  She wasn't waking up dry when we started this (she has woken up dry a few times but not consistently).  Wearing the underwear seems to have triggered something different in her.  Crossing my fingers that she keeps up with it!

For now I'm putting DS in disposables at night since we had a bunch leftover from daycare, but I think when those are gone then we'll try underwear at night.  When we went to the beach a few weeks ago he woke up dry, I guess since we were in a strange place he was worried about wetting the bed.  So that makes me think he can and he's just not.  In general, he is much better about going when he needs to and telling me when we're not at home.  GL!
