Not sure where you are located but I live in Middletown and go to Dr. Jacoby of Karoly Hammond Kaskiw Jacoby in Hazlet and Little Silver. I'm 8 months and I've had a good experience with that office. You meet with all the Dr.s during your pregnancy because it will be one of them that delivers your baby and you want to know who they are. I will be delivering at Riverview Medical Center. I took a birthing class there and really liked it so far. My neighbor just delivered at Jersey Shore and had a good experience there.
I used Women's Health Alliance in Eatontown (Drs. Chakraborty and Price)and they deliver at both Monmouth and Riverview. I delivered at Monmouth because they have the best NICU in the county. Felt safer in case something went wrong.
I am now with VanHorn on 138 no complaints. Switched from Generelli in Long Branch. She delivered my first at Monmouth. Hux delivered my second at Monmouth. I liked the idea of the NICU at Monmouth god forbid we needed it. Great experience at Monmouth. Glad I delivered there.
I'm with Dr. Lambert-Woolley in West Long Branch, its a group practice. It means that anyone from Ob's in this practice will be during delivery(it might be better than one Ob cuz one might not be available when you go into labor and you might end up with a Doc you've never met)). I have met also Dr. Khawaga and Dr. Yehl, both great. I like that they don't insist on any interventions. I asked that(advise from Lamaze Class). Also they affiliated with Monmouth Medical Center, 2 of my friends had their babies there, both loved it, they actually even said they didn't want to leave(i don't believe that, but they did like Monmouth a lot). Also my friend is a RN and she highly recommended Monmouth. As far as my own reading I've heard they are in the top 100 hospitals in the US.
P.S.: I went to Dr. Hux for my genetic screening and loved him! He is so nice. I even bought his book "9 Healthy months" and his CD's(he sings):) also saw him on TV on the delivering multiples. I've heard from my math professor that he is the best in complicated pregnancies and its hard to get to him. Although he wasn't in my network, I went to him.
i was with Mon Co Associates in Sea Girt (they used to be across from jersey shore med center but moved) and dr. jocelyn carlo was great (and my best friend -- also pg, loves her after I recommended the practice)... however, we decided to switch to the midwife route and have been using Center for Women's Health in Avon w/Patty and Louse. Such a great practice (no -- not home births -- they only deliver at JSUMC and Monmouth Med Center, tho use the latter like 5%)...we really like them and everyone I know who's gone with them feels the same... more 'interested in the patient' it seems...
Personally, though I know both hospitals have great staffs (and not just because i live so close to JSUMC)...JSUMC is the only LEVEL 2 trauma center in Mon Co, so i feel better should anything go wrong (yes, their Csection rate is higher than MMC, but you can attrib that to so many factors, including their trauma classific., and that they deliver more high rish births)...

This is who I use too! I am 5 mos and just like PP said, you meet with all 5 docs in the practice since you won't know who will be on call the day of. I have met the three women so far - Hammond, Tsong and of course Jacoby was my gyno for 5 years now. They are all great! I will also be delivering in Riverview, and in November they will have completed a total renovation of the women's/maternity unit. My MIL works at Jersey Shore and it is a great hospital as well.

Um - so funny - but I think we met the other day at the Freehold Mall!
OP - i'm also delivering at Riverview, and my OB is Dr Marilyn Loh Collado. She's wonderful. I've also heard great things about the group that people are recommending with Drs Jacoby and Hammond (my acupuncturist uses them and swears by them).
I also used to be an RN in the NICU at Jersey Shore, and wouldn't hesitate to have my child there. However, based on my experiences with him, I wouldn't use Dr Hux. As nice as he is, he can tend to be REALLY messy in the OR and that always turned me off about him, should a c-section be necessary.
I DO use the perinatologists out of Jersey Shore medical center (they go to riverview as well) and Dr Canterino is AWESOME.
As far as the Jersey Shore NICU vs the Monmouth NICU, I always preferred the staff at Jersey Shore, and after several bad St Barnabus Health System experiences, I would just never be comfortable at any of their hospitals other than Livingston.
When I was picking my OBGyn, I made appointments with several and "interviewed" them. I think that's a great way to pick a doctor you'll really click with.
And just a heads up, should you decide to go with the Michele Jacoby (female)/Hammond group - there IS another Dr Jacoby who is an OBGyn. Dr Dana Jacoby (male) is in tinton falls. I had a consult with him once, and I don't have very many nice things to say about his office. So, just make sure you're calling the right jacoby.
Good luck to you!!

I went to Monmouth County Assoc. in Wall (PP said it was in Sea Girt but it is the same practice). Dr. Aikmann delivered me at JSUMC and everything went great. As far as the practice, I met with each of the 4 docs throughout my pregnancy and the staff was really nice! I had a great experience at JSUMC. I live literaly 5 min. away so it was a no brainer as to where to go to deliver. Good Luck!!!

I used to go to Dr. Kathleen Walsh. One of her offices was located right across the street from Jersey Shore. I moved which is the only reason I stopped going to her.
I'm using Dr. Alfred Parchment of Mom's Ob/Gyn they have an office in Brick and in Howell. He gave us the choice of delivering in Brick or at Jersey Shore. We wil be delivering at Jersey Shore. I went to Brick for bleeding in the beggining of my pregnancy and was not happy with the services I recieved in the least.
I was going to A Woman's Place in Little Silver when I was pregnant with DD. It was Dr. Giovine's practice. I was referred to him by a friend who had him deliver for both pregnancies, one was twins. Dr. Levy was on call when I delivered and I was VERY happy with her. She later left the practice and I tracked her down - she was with Dr. Lambert-Wooley for a short time, and now has her own practice w/Dr. Belkin, who I also knew from A Woman's Place. They are both women which makes me more comfortable. Their practice is called Sunrise OB/GYN in Manalapan, it's a bit of a hike for me but worth it. They deliver at Monmouth, which is where I delivered my 1st daughter and I was happy with my experience there - they also have the NICU should there be an emergency with the baby, which was reassuring.
Best nicu in the county? According to who? The doctors and nurses who work there? If this is the case I feel very badly for mothers who deliver early and live in this county. I had a relative deliver early at Monmouth and her baby unfortunately ended up in this nicu. This was the most unprofessional, rude, and frankly uncaring group of people I have ever encountered. I have also had a baby in two different nicu units (neither of them monmouth) so I did have something to compare to. I was so unimpressed by this so called "fabulous team" who gave up the fight for this beautiful baby and ultimately talked the parents into taking the baby off support. It was the saddest time my family ever knew and in retrospect the family trusted this group to advocate for the baby's needs-when in the end they did the complete opposite. I am angered when I hear people say great things about this group who is clearly only in it for the money. For when it comes to something "too difficult" for them to handle, they simply give up.
Brielle Obstretics is good. I work at Meridian so I am biased towards Jersey Shore and the NICU there does amazing things. The staff is ways friendly and helpful when I am assisting families of both nursery and NICU babies. Good luck with your search!
West Long Branch OB/Gyn best around! Monmouth medical hands down. I have had friends deliver at both and the horror stories I heard from JSUMC kept me away! WLB OB/gyn has the most amazing doctors. They knew I was terrified and wanted to avoid c-section at all costs and let me labor for 36 hours after my water broke before calling a c. It was out of all of our hands though as I spiked a fever and had no choice. My LO spent 48 hrs in the NICU and those nurses were amazing! I learned so much from them about everything from diapering to breastfeeding and for a new mom it was wonderful!
I like jersey shore but that's cause my aunt in law was working there...but Monmouth delivered my trip niece an nephews. My Ob/gun goes to both I think drs back Siegel and Goldstein you can look them up drsbsg.com
My sister also went to A Woman's Place in Little Silver with her third child, and she had a fantastic experience. She was high-risk with pre-eclampsia, and Dr. Giovine successfully delivered her baby VBAC. She delivered at Monmouth with #3 and her first, years ago. I almost wish I lived down there so I could use that practice; they were terrific!
From my experience growing up down there, I'd stay away from Riverview. Jersey Shore is an excellent hospital, but I know nothing about L&D or NICU there. I know from personal experience that Monmouth is a great place to deliver.
I am late, but my doctor is John Vaclavik at Ocean OBGYN in Ocean (they have other offices) and he is prob the best doctor I have ever had. I went to a high risk doctor Dr. Gonzalez at Monmouth Medical and he was great too.
I delivered at Monmouth Medical because their NICU is so highly recommended and with twins it was always a possibility. My son was there for 1 week and the doctors and nurses (other than weekend staff) were amazing!
I use a woman's place in little silver and plan to deliver at Monmouth med even though river view is 3 blocks from my house if something was to go wrong they'd just send us to Monmouth anyways so may as well go there to begin with
I go to Jersey Shore OB/GYN (Freehold office). I have seen Dr. Baum and Dr. Rattigan so far - Dr. Baum is strictly business, nice enough guy. He's like the top doctor there, though, so knows his stuff. Dr. Rattigan is sweet as pie!! She has great bedside manner and also will answer questions day or night on email. Overall, happy with my experience there. Jersey Shore Medical Center, where this office delivers, has a NICU which was appealing to me.
I saw Farber & Iwamaye located on route 35 in red bank. I believe the practice is called Total Healthcare for Women. I delivered my first child in Riverview. I really had a good experience overall.
Love love love ben morgan was at monmouth county associates. Did not like the nastniess and just unprofessional attitudes while having complications. Went to morgans now having a complete healthy pregnancy. Bens the best my husband likes him and they work with our scheduele . Reccomend 200 %
I LOVE everyone over at Ocean OB/Gyn in Oakhurst. As for hospitals, the doulas at my birthing class as well as my doctors believe MMC has the better maternity ward. I delivered LO Dec '13 and had a great experience.
