Id wanna spell it differently for a girl-- otherwise theyd always be assumed a boy on paper.
Why? Spelling it differently won't make it more girly, and on paper, people would just wonder why you spelled the name Carson so oddly. I'd choose a traditionally female name if this is going to be an issue for you.

..Any suggestion for the girl spelling?
...And any suggestion for a nickname?
Honestly, even if you spell it Karsyn, people will still think boy. They'll just think you're illiterate. There's so many youneek spellings out there that's it's impossible to differentiate a boy from a girl.
Go with Carson, I'm sure she'll get some gender confusion but it's not a big deal IMO. There was a girl named Carson in my son's preschool class and it was fine. I really like the name for a girl. Not sure it's a name that really lends itself to a nickname though.
I think Carson is cute for a girl, but I'm not a fan of the Karsyn spelling.
For a nickname you could call her Carrie.

I don't think Carson is such an out there name - perfectly at home in my neck of the woods, and its in the top 100. Oh and there's Carson Daly, the MTV host.
Karsyn is atrocious. And honestly, I still wouldn't assume it was a girl on paper. I would just see a horribly misspelled name.
Carson is nms but a nice name. Spell it like this for either gender. If you must use a different spelling for a girl, Carsyn is slightly better than Karsyn.

I know I'm in the minority, but I like the Y in it. I know someone who has a girl named Carsyn. I just thing Carson looks boyish. I also really like K names, so I think Karsyn would definitely grow on me. I tried to get DH to go for Kassidy, but he hated the name with a C or a K.

Not sure if someone mentioned this yet, but if you are set on changing the spelling for a girl, what about Karson or Karsen? Both look less made up and less white trash to me than "Karsyn". I tend to hate random "y"s in names though.

Karsyn is atrocious. There's absolutely no reason to purposely misspell a very easy to spell name.
Carson is fine for either sex. Not too weird for a girl, but I'm generally a fan of (some) boy names for girls.

I think this too. Karsyn is terrible.
I agree. ____son names on girls are NMS.
I like Carly for a girl's name, which is similar sounding.
agree 100%

Carson for a boy isn't bad, just NMS.
Karsyn for a girl is terrible.

Exactly this!
I agree. I have a friend who has a daughter named Carson - love this name!

I love boy names for girls. I would spell it Carson though.
I really like unisex names with a girly middle name. Like Carson Claire, or Carson Grace
Karsyn is horrifying. Misspelled mess, WT name, etc.
Carson is a boy name. It sounds gross on a girl.
Mostly agree. If you reject all the pretty girl names out there, at least spell it correctly. Karsyn looks ridiculous
This name is not unique for either boys or girls no matter how you spell it.
Definitely not "gross" on a girl...that's a little over the top. The only thing that is gross is spelling it Karsyn.
Agreed.?
