Potty Training

If you used 3 Day Potty Training

Did you have success after 3 days?  If not, how much longer did it take, knowing that each child is different?  Did you end up deviating from the 3 Day technique?  If so, do you think that caused him/her to take longer to get it; what did you change?

We're on day 3 and I'm not confident that she's going to be PT by the end of day 3 (granted, I expect there would still be accidents but she's not yet telling us when she has to go -- she's just holding it for forever! Or telling us after she's gone).  Putting her in underwear though has gotten her to stay dry at night and during naps (so far, knock on wood).  She's gone on the potty a few times but all but one of them was from us catching her going and running to the potty with her.  And she hasn't yet pooped (whether in her underwear or on the potty).  TIA.

Re: If you used 3 Day Potty Training

  • We're on day 3, as well.  I don't think we will be 100% by the end of the day, but close.  I still offer prompts several times a day and pay very close attention to his body language.  Sometimes he takes off running to the potty on his own and sometimes I encourage him because he is doing the potty dance.

We did deviate from the program, though.  We are using pull-ups for naps and night time.  Yesterday, he held his pee so long that he practically peed through a pull up at naptime.  Now, he is more comfortable with the potty and not holding his pee for long periods of time.  So, last night he stayed dry.   He really wants to keep Buzz & Woody (on his pull-ups) dry, so he's treating them as underwear.
