Queen size bed for toddler??

Has anyone moved their toddler to a queen size bed?? Pros or cons?

DS is currently in his crib. But when the new baby comes (well before they come!) DS will move to a regular bed. We really don't want to have to purchase another crib. DH and I went to Ikea this weekend and looked at beds for DS. All the toddler beds weren't that great. Then we were just looking around at the other bed frames. We have a spare queen size mattress that isn't in use. Ikea has some bed frames that are relativly low and would probably work well. Just wondering if a big bed isn't the best idea.

:-/ I personally am not crazy about the idea. I'd keep shopping around for a toddler bed or at least a twin bed.

My niece started in a queen bed at 2.  No problems at all.  They had the bed pushed over in a corner (against a wall) and had the guard rail on the other side.  My family has never used toddler beds.

Not a queen, but ds is in a full-size with railing.  He sleeps soooo much better with the extra room.  Plus, there's room for us to lay next to him if we need to.

we use a queen with ds. It's great and we've had no problems.

We moved ds from his crib to a full size bed several months ago. He does great in it. His crib converted to a full size bed, but for now, we just have the mattress and boxspring sitting on the floor (so it won't be so high) and rails on both sides of the bed. He loves it and sleeps well in it.

We moved kiddo to a full sized futon on the floor a few months ago - no problems.  He'd never really slept in a crib so he was very used to a big bed.  I can't see why it would be a problem.

We will be moving DD into a full siz bed.  I don't understand why everyone is so insistent on toddler beds. We are using what we have.  We plan on pushing the full sized bed against the wall and using bed rails.

Neither of my children used a toddler bed. DD had a queen and DS has a full size. It against the walls in the corner of the room. And the box spring is on the floor, no frame.

We have an extra queen bed in the house right now (in a guest room). We plan on transitioning DS to that. Once we know how he does with it, then DH and I are going to upgrade our bed to a king size and give DS our queen (it's better quality than the one in the guest room) and move the guest bed back where it was.
