3rd Trimester

How would you spell it?

This is my first poll so I hope I didn't jack it up.

I don't talk names much because I think opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one. This name is 87% going to happen so I'm not concerned if someone doesn't like it, and as someone with an odd name I'm not worried about our kid being doomed for life. Yes

Re: How would you spell it?

  • I'd look up the most common way to spell it.  That's what we did with DD's name since it can be spelled a few ways.

  • This won't affect anything, but I just saw a way to spell it that made me smile. In Malaysia, "Oren" in Malay language means "Orange", as in the fruit. :) I think it's adorable.
  • I LOVE that name. Yes

  • I read an article that spelling all depends on what background you're going with. It's spelled one way for Irish, another for Scottish, and yet another for the Hebrew origin. (And now in Malaysia it's "orange"! Smile)

I like all of them but DH is super Irish and Scottish and I like the Christian story behind that spelling. But I also love Judaism (not Jewish but really like the philosophies).

All I know is we're not going truly Gaelic because that's "Odhran" and I'm not opening that can of worms in the US.

I voted for "Oren" but, I think "Orin" would work too.  Any of the other spellings w/ extra letters seem confusing & uncessary to me.  BUT, if they are the "formal" spelling, by all means use it.  It's not a name I'm familiar with personally.

  • Orrin is the way I've always seen it spelled so I voted for that one, but I also like the look of Oren. LOVE the name, btw. It was on my list when I thought I was having a boy.

I've never heard the name before so I have no idea how it's supposed to be spelled. I agree I'd go with the most common or the one with the heritage that matches your own.
