DH PPD

Anyone have issues with DH having PPD? Our son is only 15wks old and on and off since 8wks he has mentioned not wanting any more kids because it has been so hard with this one! He is a fussy baby and has GERD but he is still the best thing ever! I am seriously wondering if I can stay married to him if he sticks with this. When we got married we talked of 2-3 kids. He has no idea what HARD is...try being the mom!

Absolutely men are affected - this is a life change for them too! I would encourage your dh to talk to his doc. He may benefit from some talk therapy. In the meantime, if you're feeling up to it, try to help him along. He just may need some encouragement from you to keep him going.

DH has this too. Its called Paternal Postnatal Depression. But he doesn't want to seek help so its fun times, lemme tell you...

I think my DH went through the same thing...and our DS had GERD too. Unfortunately...I had PPD too, so this poor kid didn't have a chance.  Of course I got help and have been taking meds- so now things are turning around.  My DH has come around too...but for the first 6 months or so- I was on my own with a cranky baby crying in my arms.  My DH refused to help me when he was crying...so I was stuck.  There was no way I was just going to let my baby CIO, especially when he was in pain.  It was tough b/c we both just complained a lot about DS having GERD and how we just didn't want to be around him.  Thank God grandma would come over and take care of him...when we just couldn't handle it anymore.  Of course my DH and I are crazy...b/c we are still thinking about having more kids!

The whole first year is hard.  My husband was this way at first too.  It's tough on a marriage too.  Hang in there and remember to try to get away just you two at least once a month without your LO.  That's so important.
