NPR: What are some good bridal shower party favors

I am trying to help my SIL to plan my other SIL's (DH's sisters) Bridal shower.  I have never done this before.  Any suggestions on fun party favors?  Thanks.

Is there a theme to the wedding/shower?  My girlfriend that just got married last night had a Tiffany themed shower.  She had little boxes the color of Tiffany boxes that had wine stoppers in them with huge (fake, of course) diamonds at the top. Then she had huge chocolate and vanilla cupcakes decorated with white frosting and a turquoise bow in frosting.  They were very good and a huge hit!

Hi there!  First off I hope your legs are doing better.  Exacerbations suck!

Second, my go to bridal shower party favor.  I pick out little potted plants.  In the fall mums are good.  In the spring, tulips.  Summer, herb gardens or hydrangea.  You get the idea. 
They are great to use because they also double as centerpieces and add ambiance to the location. 
Potted plants are harder to kill. Inevitably you have a few people that don't want plants or can't have them but you'll always have someone that wants two, three or four of them.  It always seems to balance in the end. 
And at around $5 you can't beat it.

they are more low key.   The shower is actually in the basement of a bank.   Great Idea Katemamma.  I will have to look into that. 

I'm doing okay, still in the hospital.  I'm not diabetic, but high blood sugar is a result of the high does of steroids so while I'm on these, I'm also on insulin.  poop.

That totally sucks!  My DH does that too when he's on steroids.  Like you need one more thing to manage.  UGH!  Hoping things get better fast.

We also did potted plants and I recently went to a shower where they gave bamboo luck plants (that are in the water with rocks). I am sure they are more expensive but they are really nice.

Food is always a big hit! Like the post above mentioned, if there is a theme or certain colors the bride is using in her wedding, you can make or order some beautiful cupcakes and then use fabulous packaging (it's all about presentation)

I like the plant/centerpiece idea. I think that edible favors are always good! The last bridal shower I threw had a beach theme so we made up little bags of salt water taffy, decorated with beachy ribbon.
