water temp for baby pool

This may seem like a stupid question - but I'm a first time mom.  We are planning on using our little baby pool tomorrow.  Do you just use regular water from the hose outside or do you bring in warm water from inside to fill up the pool.  I am worried that he will get a cold from being in a pool filled with cool water.  Like I said, stupid question but I wasn't sure.  TIA!

Re: water temp for baby pool

  • We used mostly water from the hose but then brought out a few buckets of warmer water from the house to take the edge off.

  • We have a large above ground pool in our backyard. The temp is prob. 75-80 degrees. When DS gets in it, he almost cries b/c the temp takes his breath away, but almost immediately he is fine/laughing/splashing. I would think that if you filled the pool with hose water and left it in the sun for a few hours it would be good to go. Straight hose water (IMO) would be too cold.

  • I have only use dit once so far. I used hose water and Henry HATED it. He loves water and "real" pools, so it must have been the water. I'll definitely be bringing some warm water outside next time!

  • we had a slip & slide for my nephews and when we put Evan to even touch the water he cried non stop..it was probably too cold for him ..so i'd recommend letting the water sit in the sun or put warm water in the pool to balance the temp. out ..have fun!

  • We have a pool at my parents house and she does best in it and is the happiest playing when the temperature is around 80 or higher. She did semi-ok when it was like 75-78 but didn't seem happy playing in it for very long. My cousin has used a baby pool for her daughter and usually fills it with buckets of warmer water from the house so it isn't so cold coming from the hose.

  • I fill it with the hose and bring in buckets of hot water from the house until it feels good.  If you have time, the letting it sit in the sun method is also effective.

  • I usually fill it with hose water in the a.m. If it isn't warm after a few hours, I will put a bucket or two of warm water in it. B didn't like the water too cold!
  • We set my Dad's hot tub to 85 for Poptart to swim in.  I think I'd bring out some warm water so it's like a luke warm-ish bath.
