Metformin ER

I just picked up my prescription and it's the ER version.  When I posted about this the other day it was mentioned that the ER isn't as effective.  I was on the regular version before with no s/e.  Would you call Monday to be switched to the regular?

Re: Metformin ER

  • odd...ER is suppose to be as effective with less s/e (for most people) because it can take the daily dose all at once.

  • it is bioequivalent - meaning, works exactly the same --- but with fewer side effects and no need for dosing multiple times a day.

trust me. I took it myself... and I'm currently in the middle of studying for another diabetes drug- and also have to study metformin, too (it's combined with the drug i'll be selling).

  • I have never heard of it being less effective, worked well for me! :)
