Potty Training

How many times does your DC go?

I posted this on the toddler board first. Sorry, I just noticed there is a potty training subboard. :)

We've been potty training since Saturday and have noticed that DD doesn't go potty very often. She's peeing 3-5 times a day and once or none at night. She will also go anywhere from 3-12 hours before she goes, most of the time going 6-8 hours. We took her to the doctor yesterday because we're worried about bladder infections, etc. since she goes so long between them, and she said that they want toddlers to go three times a day at the very minimum and that DD should be going more at night. DD is very excited about going in the potty and doesn't really like the idea of going in her pull up now. She's been very successful at getting it in the potty too. I was just wondering how often your DC goes during the day and at night and how long between each time. I feel like she should be going a lot more (even though she's not acting like it bothers her very often at all) and, of course, the doctor basically said that too. Sorry it's so long! Thanks!

  • My son doesn't go very often either, but he also doesn't drink much (despite our efforts).  If your Pedi said 3 times was the minimum and she is going 3-5 times (and isn't showing signs of pain), it sounds like she is okay.  ??   But if your concerned that her liquid intake and peeing don;t seem to jive, then maybe talk w/ your Pedi again... ??

  • DS goes a lot during the day but he is a big drinker(drinks constantly all day). He is still sleeping in a diaper and sometimes he wakes up dry and other time he is wet.

DD only goes about 4 times a day and although she is sleeping in a diaper she is dry about 6 mornings a week(so not going at all during the night.)

If your pedi said 3 is the minimum then I think 3-5 is okay as long as she is not in pain or acting like it bothers her.
