Another NBR question. How much does it cost to get trees trimmed?

We have two trees that have branches that come over the top of our house that we want trimmed back. They are pretty big trees & we don't have the tools to do it ourselves. Do I call a landscaper or are there specific tree-trimming companies? If you've paid for this service, could you share info on pricing?

Would it be cheaper for us to buy a huge ladder & chainsaw?

We are sh!tty homeowners.

Re: Another NBR question. How much does it cost to get trees trimmed?

  • We had about 11 trees on our property trimmed and shaped about two years ago. It cost us $700. Yes, it would be cheaper for you to buy a ladder and a chainsaw, but depending on the size of the tree, a ladder might not even cut it. We have two fairly large maple trees that the tree trimming service had to litterally climp up themselves with the chainsaw. That is not something I would be willing to do myself (or DH).

Same for us a couple of years ago.  I wouldn't do it myself either.  They have the equipment to make it safe.  You should also do some research to see when you can trim the trees.  We have a lot of oak trees in our yard that are suseptable to oak wilt.  They're not suppose to be cut during the warmer months.
