good price for a babyhawk?

question for all my savvy dealhound mamas!  what's a good price for a barely-used babyhawk?  friend of mine is selling hers, her 10mo old daughter never liked carriers, so it's basically like new.  she paid $50 for it.  also, are there different kinds, or is a babyhawk a babyhawk?

Re: good price for a babyhawk?

  • oh nice!  wonder what pattern it is.

I thought they retailed for a more than $50 ($70+, maybe?)

There are only 2 types and LOTS of different options for personalization, the tie one and the "oh snap" that has buckles and is a lot more expensive.

not sure what a good price would be though.

  • ummm... just looked them up and they start at about $90 and go up from there (no wonder I don't have one Wink)

i haven't seen it in person, all i know is "it has khaki (darker khaki) straps and a blue patterned pocket."

i'm not sure where she got it either...maybe she didn't buy it new?  hrm...her spreadsheet says it's from "Micronews" - but I can't figure out what/where that is.

i doubt it has the buckles...

eta: maybe i just need to see it in person...if it is a babyhawk, in good condition, sounds like it's worth getting.  she's willing to sell it for $25 (if it looks brand new), $15 (if it's "loved").  i'm assuming it looks brand new, but maybe not, if she bought it used!

  • If she is selling it for $15-25 then it is DEFINITELY worth getting!! I am salavating at the thought of it!!

Baby Hawks can be ordered in custom colors and fabrics, starting at $80. With a pocket, they cost $90. With a toy ring, they are $95. If you want it XL, add another $5. And if it's for a toddler, add another $5. So the price depends a little on the specs.

Also, the regular BH has ties. The "Oh Snap" one has clips and costs more.

I have a used regular BH that I picked up at a consignment store for $23. But I wish I had a pretty one with colors that I picked out! So I might sell mine and buy another.

For that reason, I've been looking at DiaperSwappers and Craigslist frequently to check out prices... I see a lot of them going for $60, but I don't think that is a good enough price. I see some for $50, which is OK. I personally would not pay more than $40 for a used Baby Hawk because I'd rather design my own. But that's just me! HTH!
