Does anyone have an APX Alarm System???

We just got an APX alarm system installed last night.... we have until the 13th to cancel our contract, should we decide to... it's $50/month for 4 year contract.  Is this reasonable?  (also smoke detector is hardwired to fire dept, etc)

What has been your experience with APX?  TIA!

Re: Does anyone have an APX Alarm System???

  • I think that's about what we pay for our APX alarm. It seems to work okay, although we've had an issue where the window sensor stopped working and set our alarm off while we were away. We got a call that our home was broken into - freaky! But they got someone out pretty quick to fix and haven't had issues since.

I have to say that, in a lot of ways, it makes me feel more secure and it is worth that small amount each month. I like the fire alarm feature in theory, but it makes me nervous anytime the house gets smoky from cooking :)

  • $50/mo for 4 year contract seems steep.  There are other systems out there less than $40/mo with more flexible contract options.  Also, make sure you get a cell based system. (which yours may already be). Then you don't have to worry about someone cutting the phone line - which can disable the system.

Also - you may want to check out APX (based in Provo UT),  or any other alarm company on the Better Business Bureau, Yelp, ripoffreport.com, or other review sites. Hope that helps!

Note - my hubby works in the industry, so I may have my own biases!

  • I just recently got the same system and love it. I'm kind of a tech person and am very satisfied with how the system is set up, I have yet to find better technology anywhere else. APX is great is my book
