How do you do it when they get older and need longer awake time? I don't think Kaya can go 4 hours without eating so I'm not sure how to work this. We had been keeping her awake for about 2 hours, then putting her down for a nap. But today she was fine after 3 hours - not fussing or acting tired yet. So I had to nurse her then put her down. But that throws off the whole routine. Can you give me your typical schedule? TIA!
Re: ? for moms who follow E.A.S.Y.
not sure what others do but I just nurse her again and then put her down sleepy but awake. I kind of leave it up to her, though, I don't just feed her as a matter of fact. So she'll wake, nurse, play, and then when she starts acting tired I ask her if she wants milk (both verbally and with signing) and she gets all excited and smiles and signs back to me if she's hungry
I've read that even when they are older (under 1-1.5) they shouldn't stay up more than 3 hrs anyway... there have been times when A doesn't yawn or rub her eyes but she has less "light" in her eyes and I try putting her down and she settles and goes right to sleep! so I wouldn't let K stay awake more than 3 hrs either.

Exactly what Jaime said...
Alexa used to go down for a nap whenever she hit 2 hours, like clockwork, until she was about 6-7 months. Now she can go about 3 hours.
I will say tho, that sometimes she will not LOOK tired (rubbing eyes, yawn) and will instead seem very hyper and playful. I'll think, oh no, she'll never go to sleep! But surprisingly, I'll nurse her and put her in her crib and she's out in 2 seconds.
I think sometimes babies/kids get hyper when they are overtired, so sometimes ou have to be the parent and say, OK, it's time for a nap!
As you can see... When we made the switch to staying up longer, which was around 6-7 months, we ditched the EASY routine and I now nurse her before naps. That's because she has learned to go to sleep on her own and not be nursed to sleep. So now, nursing her is a comfort thing and she sleeps longer on a full tummy.
Since about 8 months, she has been doing ONE morning nap and ONE afternoon nap. So she's not napping several times a day anymore... But her two naps are LONG (1.5 hours each). Eventually, she'll drop the morning nap and sleep 1-4 p.m., or so my friends with tots say!

miss A takes three naps per day (morning, early afternoon, and late afternoon/early evening)...on average about 2-2.5 hrs and sometimes 3 hrs!! but i think that is probably her making up for sleep she isn't getting overnight since she only sleeps 5-7 hrs before waking (with a 2-3 hr stretch on both sides of that). i'm curious to see what happens to her naps once i can transition her to earlier bedtimes! i would love to see her sleep a 10-12 hr stretch overnight like alexa does!
