I want to make DS a book from my create a critter cart. (which is adorable IMHO) I am thinking an A is for alligator, B is for bird, C is for..... etc. type book. My question is what would you use for the actual book to make it sturdy.

BTW does IMHO ever make anyone else think of IHOP?

I think Michaels and Hobby Lobby actually sell book type bindings.  I think I've seen them in a brown paper bag type material.  I like that idea a lot!  Very cute!

YES< I do think of IHOP when I see that!  Yummmmmmm, Cheese Blintzes with blueberry!

I have made ABC books using photo albums.

I have used chipboard albums before. Target has them for a dollar in their scrapbook aisle. I think there are 6 boards with a ring. In cute shapes too!
