I have the first years true fit for my Ford Focus. It works well b/c the head rest is detachable while in the rear position. It is a little hard to adjust the straps but that's because the car is too small, not a problem with the car seat.

I have a small car as well, so I'm looking for one that will fit. I ended up looking up the width of the ones I am considering, and I'll probably get one that is the most narrow. So far I've narrowed it down to the britax diplomat, sunshine kids radian 80 and first years true fit.
FYI, you can go to www.carseatdata.org and put in your car type, and it will tell you the recommended seats for your car.
We have a 2003 Ford Focus, and have a Britax Boulevard. It fits well. DH and I are both tall (6'3-5'11) and I think he just has to have the driver seat be non-reclined... which bugs him, but doesn't affect his driving.

The manual for my Ford Focus recommends against installing car seats in the middle. Yours might be different, but you might want to check. We have a Britax Roundabout and a Boulevard. I installed these behind the passenger seat when rear-facing. Both will fit behind the driver when FF.
Unless you need to switch your carrier between cars, I would just leave it in the car. I just put a blanket over it when the baby isn't in it so that the buckles don't heat up.

I have a VW golf and have the radian 80. It is a tight fit, when rear facing but it worked. I also love that the radian can fold for travel (and has a carry strap!), it really helped when we went to Ontario last fall as it was easy to tote around airports and on trains

I wonder why it says that? The middle is the safest. Ill have to check tomorrow.
