The website for the clinic we're going to go to for IVF says the global rate is $8100, which doesn't include the meds. First question.. probably a dumb one.. do you think the global rate means that's the rate THEY charge for a typical IVF cycle?
Also, I'm curious as to how much the actual meds generally cost. I'm familiar with the cost of follistim and luckily I still have about $600 worth. But what about everything else that you typically have to get for an IVF cycle? Does anyone have any idea how much that usually adds up to?
We'll of course be meeting with them when we get back from our vacation, but this is probably going to come up next week with the in-laws, and I want to be able to tell them approx. how much it will most likely cost. (we're hoping to borrow the $ from them). thank youuu!
Re: Another IVF cost question..
I see we all have IVF on the brain today. I have no idea, but GL!
Did you test yet?
A single cycle at my clinic, including ICSI and freeze and storage of any extra embies for 12 months is just under $10,000 not including drugs or anesthesia for ER.
I was told to expect the drugs to cost between $1,500 and $6,000 (but this really depends on protocol and Dx). Given that I am DOR, my RE said to expect mine to be about $4,000.
Best of luck to you!
ETA - At my clinic, anesthesia for IVF is about $500 - $600.

Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)
IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN
IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.
IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132. Lil is here!
TTC#2: Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.
IVF #4: BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #5: MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #6: (New RE): Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN
FET#1: BFN
Wow! That's a big difference. Thanks for the info STL! I'm hoping my in-laws can at least help us with the main cost, and then dh and I can figure out a way to pay for the meds ourselves. Hopefully they'll be closer to the $1500 mark. haha.
Hey Mari! Nope, I'm testing tomorrow but I have very little hope. I have all the same consistant cramps I always get before AF. So, I'm trying to mentally prepare myself now for our next step.
Do you still go tomorrow for a beta?
Good luck.. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed until you hear from them. Have you decided whether you'd do another IUI, or move on to IVF? That was your first IUI, right?
I hope it turns out that way for you! Being OOP is so hard!

LOL I'll add you.
We decided to do 1 more IUI. MH is scared of the ER so he wants to put off the IVF. Thanks, but I'm not one of those luky girls; that gets the suprise you peed wrong on the test and you are totally KU!!
I hope your next IUI works and you don't have to even think about IVF. hehe.. you never know Mari!
I just have to be hopeful for you because I know how it is.. I need other people to be hopeful for me when I'm feeling completely hopeless.
STL - being OOP totally sucks! It just adds another level of stress to everything that I don't need right now. I'm totally dreading bringing this up to the in-laws while we're on vacation with them next week. boo.
You know it's funny it's always easier to be hopeful for someone else... So that works for me. We'll see how all this goes.
GL talking to the inlaws about all this. I know they will help...
Good luck talking to your in-laws about this!
I completely understand the stress of being OOP. We are OOP, too. I really wish insurance was required to cover IF treatments. I actually spoke to our HR person yesterday about IF coverage. We have two offices in IL, so I wanted to see if our insurance covered IF treatments for the IL employees. She is looking into it, but thinks that since the insurance contract was entered into in Missouri, it doesn't have to cover IF even for the IL employees. I was really hoping that I could transfer to one of the IL offices for a year or so to get some coverage.

It's mandatory here, but I know Clarissa works for an international company and she only has diagnostic coverage. I don't understand that. I know the company has to have more than 25 employees for it to be mandatory.
thanks Reb! Once I get past the $ issue (small detail, right?
I think I'll start getting really excited about it.
We are IVF with ICSI our total with meds per cycle $13000 to $16000.
Yes it is a shame for those of us with who live in states that do not require coverage have the added stress of $$$$. and it is a BIG $tress.
To add insult to injury...When I learned that any medical complications related to the IVF will NOT be covered by our insurance I thought I was going to fall out of my chair.
Good Luck!
