I'm currently weaning from my zoloft. So far, I think I'm doing okay. I'm having a little trouble sleeping, a little "edgier" than normal, but I think I'm doing good. My question is, how did you know if you were really okay to stay off your meds. I've also noticed the last day or two that I have been a little weepier than normal. However, the last few weeks (basically the whole time I have been weaning) have been extremely stressful. I see my therapist tomorrow, so of course I will talk to her, but thought I would get your imput too! Thanks ladies!!
Re: Anyone weaned from Zoloft?
I weaned off Zoloft in the begining of my 3rd trimester which was difficult since I was on bedrest for pre-term labor but my OB had mentioned it could cause seizures in newborns... I did it super slow, went from 75mg, to 50mg for a month, to 25 mg for a month and then down to 12.5 mg for a month. I think I did okay but it seemed like the first week on a new lower dosage I would get weepy but it would go away.
I read about some people having a real rough time with "zaps" but fortunately I didn't experience any of those. I did lose my appetite though for awhile but I would get way before the meds when I was feeling down or blue. I've now been off the meds since about February and feel okay. I'm seeing a therapist to help me deal with the PPD and the fact that I had a preemie and am still living the guilt of that and the fear of health problems and getting over the NICU experience. But I really don't want to go back on the meds so hopefully therapy will help. GL to you!
