I am prone to canker sores, but I usually only get ONE every few months or so. I woke up 3 days ago with THREE whopping sores on my lower lip. I googles canker sores and pregnancy and found that there is a higher chance of getting them while pregnant. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't remember getting them with my DS and I hope this doesn't continue!
Re: Outbreak of canker sores in pregnancy?
This happened to me too last week! I hadn't gotten one in well over a year and I woke up to a huge outbreak. I had 4.
It has to be stress or hormone related. I'm hoping this isn't a continuing trend either.
Yup...canker sores.
I'm thinking mine is more from the hormone change since I haven't been stressed lately. If anything I've been more relaxed than ever. The pharmacy told me to put baking soda on the sores for a few seconds and rinse. It stung for a while, but they do feel better!
I switched to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)-free toothpaste and that has made a big difference in the frequency that I get canker sores. You can buy SLS-free toothpaste at some Whole Foods or natural food stores or online. They are a little hard to track down, but well worth it! Personally, I use the Tom's of Maine kind. It will feel different in your mouth (SLS is a foaming agent so SLS-free toothpastes don't foam up that much) but still gives a great clean! I actually don't use any products with SLS in it anymore. It is one of those common ingredients in health and beauty products that is nastier than you'd think should be allowed.
I almost never get them anymore.
