Drop-Ins: What type of nipple?

I was wondering if you use Playtex Drop Ins, what type of nipple do you use? Latex or Silicone?

I am trying to decide which bottles I want to use with DD when she starts daycare next month. She is currently using Evenflo bottles with Playtex Ventaire slow flow nipples. She is not gassy or anything so we do not have to worry about that. She isn't really picky about nipples, but seems to prefer the "normal" sized nipple over the "wide". The drop-in that we have tried with her is the latex nipple so I was curious if the latex is what she doesn't like instead of the wide aspect.

Re: Drop-Ins: What type of nipple?

  • My LO doesnt seem to care what we use. I bought one that had the latex nipple but bought some silicone ones to have on hand. It seems like our silicone ones clog. Like every 2 ounces I have to squeeze the tip and push air through it. I have been having more luck with the vent aire bottles.

  • We use the silicone ones... probably cuz they came with the bottles we got/purchased.  Never tried latex.

  • DD prefers the silicone ones but they do get clogged especially after shaking to mix the formula.  I had to buy a formula mixer ($5 at bru and its been worth every penny) and haven't had to much of a problem with clogging since then.

  • We used the silicone nipple w/ DS b/c you could put in the dishwasher and they were more durable. He did fine w/ them. W/ DD she was eating soooo slow, I tried the latex ones and now she's much faster. I would start off w/ silicone b/c they don't break down as fast personally.
