Hi Everyone,
Thought I would introduce myself. I am 40 and my husband is 38 and we are trying to get pregnant with our first baby. We have been trying since December with no luck. We have just finished going through all the tests with a fertility specialist. Good news-nothing is medically wrong with us. The Dr is recommending we start IVF but it just feels like we are giving up. I want to believe you can get pregnant after 40 without IVF.
I am finding the whole process very frustrating but am trying to keep a positive attitude about it all.
Re: New to Board
Hi and welcome. This is a great board!
Will your Dr entertain the idea of you doing injections with timed intercourse (TI) before IVF? If you and your husbands test came back okay it seems weird to jump straight to IVF (though I'm not a Dr so I really don't know what's weird or not ).
Hi, and welcome a-board! I turn forty in a couple of months and am also hoping my husband and I can get pregnant on our own. We just got married so giving it a try for a few months before going in for any testing. I'll probably go and get my levels checked if no BFP before my birthday.
Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It's an excellent resource for getting to know your cycles. Was certainly an eyeopener for me. I'm using a fertility monitor (Clearblue Easy) for the first time this cycle so we can be sure to time everything right.
Best of luck to you on this (hopefully short) journey!

Hello and welcome! It really depends on how aggressive you want to be. You can certainly tell your Dr. that you'd like to try until you're ready to jump into IVF.......you can also ask about some other options (like trying Clomid or IUI). The choice, ultimately, is yours.
Best of luck!
