Is it just me?

Lately, I feel really dumb when it comes to babies. I am worried that I won't be a good enough parents. I've been reading about diapers and how many to expect to use on an average day - then it hit me - - what kind do I get? There are so many on the market and the sizes are all over the places too. I just feel stupid - did anyone else feel this way? What did you do to help stop feeling this way?

Re: Is it just me?

  • HAHA.  I still feel this way.  I make it up half the time.  It is totally trial by error.  The bling leading the blind over here.  You do what works and change what doesn't.  Don't worry.
  • Umm, I am so scared.  Last night I said to DH I have no idea how to change a diaper anymore.  I think it was about 10 years since I last did it.  So yea.  He reminded me that we will get different opinions from people and we just have to figure out what works best for us.

I am still afraid of holding my baby with the neck not being strong yet.  I dont know why but it scares the crap outta me.

  • I think the fact that you're even worried about these things is a good sign :)

  • Glad I am not alone here. I think I will ask about those parenting classes the hospital offers when I see the OB on Friday. I just feel like there is so much to learn.
  • You're definitely not alone!  There is so much to know.  It's definitely overwhelming.  I've just accepted that this is a normal way to feel.  I think you just have to give it time & you will figure out what's best for you & your family (or at least I'm hoping that's how it works! Smile).
  • We all feel overwhelmed about the little stuff (like diapers) occasionally.  We're still trying to figure out the diaper issue and if we want to use the cloth diaper service that's in town or not.  We're not completely on board with the cloth diaper "do it yourself" wash method after I found out my mother ruined a washer by the time I was 1 from a combination of the extra loads from cloth diapers & baby clothes.  (Mainly knowing that our washer in theory might be on extended time based on what one repairman said because of the age of it since things aren't made how they used to be.)  Honestly we're just going to try one thing and go from there.  If the first brand of diapers don't work, you can always buy another brand.  I wouldn't stock up on anything in particular (brand wise) unless its something like cloth diapers just in case the little one doesn't do well with that brand.  It happens.  If you need an example just look at some of the bottle brand issues some babies have.  They are picky. :)

This. Also, that why all of us mommies are still on the board. Half of the stuff I do is because you all told me to. :)
