Swaddling

For how long (how many weeks/months)  should you swaddle the baby at night?  And how  will you know when to stop?

  • My friends older DD was swaddled for 5 months. She was addicted to it and wouldnt sleep without it. finally at 5 mos, she broke from it.

I plan on swaddling Brynn until she can roll over strongly, and well. I think we will have a problem breaking her from it, but it isnt impossible.

  • We had been using Halo SleepSack Swaddles (now just the sleepsack) and the package says to stop when LO shows signs of rolling over, breaking loose, or not wanting it.  We just de-swaddled over the weekend because he was breaking loose.  As far as when to stop, it depends on your LO, but I think the common time period is around 3-4 months.
