Cost of OOP HSG?

Hi ladies,

I'm completely OOP and if I need to move to injectibles my RE is having me do an HSG. He is very well respected, but didn't have me do one before starting oral meds and I'm not sure why. I asked about it and he said its not neccessary.

Anyway, if you are OOP do you remember what the cost was to you?

TIA!

Re: Cost of OOP HSG?

  • I *think* mine was 1200 OOP

  • I want to say it was around $400?  I was with Kaiser at the time, though, and they tend to be on the lower end.  It's been a while, though.

The hospital *tried* to bill my insurance $1200.  My insurance paid $238 haha  It was crazy!

(ETA:  I just thought I'd share what the actual cost was!!)

For some reason, even though i have no IF coverage, my HSG was covered.  So maybe yours will be-- maybe they coded it differently?

I would ask the clinic how much it will cost so you have an idea.  And a lot of places will offer a discount if you pay it all at once- at least for some things.

  • I had to pay the remainder of my deductible, plus 20% of the remaining balance... in all, it was just under $400 OOP.  I don't have IF coverage, either, but since an HSG is a diagnostic procedure, it was covered.

  • 450$ oop, no insurance billed. I saw someone on here who was told it would be 3k uninsured but for that rate you could probably book a flight to somewhere that they'll do it for less. Oy!

I don't post often here, but I thought this was too important not to share.  I have no IF coverage and mine was covered too.  The doctor coded it differently so it would be covered.

  •  I haven't had mine yet, but I checked and it is covered even though I don't have fertility coverage. I believe it is being coded as a medical test not fertility test for cycle abnormalities.

  • We are OOP, too, but our insurance covered the HSG b/c it was coded as a "uterine anomaly" instead of infertility.  They billed the insurance $750; I paid about $114.
