Trying to Get Pregnant

How to get through this!!!

Hey guys I'm new here and been TTC for three months, going on four for our first. We always "knew" that it could take a while to conceive but never really figured it would for us, well thats not the case as it's going. ( I know four months isn't long at all just feels that way)

So I need some advice I feel like my whole world is consumed with TTC.  Not so much stressful just like a never ending cycle.  I hope I am not the only one like this.

How does everyone get through this.

Thanks!!!!

  • Sorry you are so frustrated. It is tough. :(

I see your ticker - so are you charting? Temping?

  • Hi and welcome! Are you charting? I think that many ladies feel like this is something active they can do (besides the sex Wink) to help them understand their cycles. FertilityFriend.com is a great resource, as is the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. These might help you feel better about the whole process. HTH :)
  • Hey there.  Sorry you're still TTC.  I don't have much advice except keep telling yourself that it's totally normal to take a year to conceive.  You'll most likely get your positive test soon.  Good luck!
  • Everyone is so nice here... Its good to get some advice.

I tried the temp thing but It wasn't really working, or I couldn't get a slight difference (operator error most likely).  I looked at the charting and got so confused....I did buy some OPKS for this month (my Dr. suggested those when i talked to her about TTC), and been just using the ovulation calculator since I have a pretty regular cycle.  Hoping those will help a little.

  • First of all welcome!  Many of the ladies here will reccomend Taking Charge of Your Fertility (TCOYF) as a great book to educate yourself about, well, taking charge of your fertility and gaining some great knowledge about how your body really works.

Also, stick around and lurk through the posts, you'll get a ton if your questions answered, some you didn't even know you had until you see them!

I've learned SO much just lurking and I felt really prepared for the TTC journey when we decided to kick the BCP to the curb.

I understand how all consuming it can be, but once you have the facts, it makes it alot easier to go about your day (or month lol),  Good luck!

  • I HIGHLY recommend getting the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is INVALUABLE when TTC. Until you chart (and temp) you truly have no idea what is going on with your body and cycles.

For example - it is possible to have your period and NOT ovulate - therefore, not get pregnant.

Another example - you cycles may be "normal" length (28 days or so), but you have no clue WHEN you are actually ovulating. Just because your cycle is a "normal" 28 days, you don't know if you are ovulating on day 14 ... it may be day 8, day 24, day 10 .... who knows. And without knowing WHEN you ovulate, you have no idea when you are actually fertile.

Temping will tell you your fertile days. It is worth "figuring out". It is NOT hard. I promise. OPKs are a step in a good direction, but honestly, temping and charting will be 110% invaluable. And will ELIMINATE almost all your anxiety - because you will KNOW what is going on with your body.

This is very important.  A normal 28 day cycle does not mean that you automatically ovulate halfway through your cycle.  Charting will definitely help you figure that out.  If it seems too overwhelming, you could always start with OPKs and try to add charting in at a later time (or vice versa).

    GL to you and welcome!

  • I just wanted to Welcome you and tell you you are not alone.  I feel the same way.  I'm just taking it cycle by cycle and charting.  I find charting helps me because it feels like it gives me some kind of control over something I really have nothing about.

All the PP have offered great information and I hope that has helped you.
