Minky too warm?

I posted on the November moms board some of the fabrics I am going to use for a quilt/blanket for LO. DH's aunt is making it. I found a mint green minky fabric that would match perfectly. I am wanting to use the blanket for when LO is a toddler. My question is, is minky too warm? I'm sure in the winter it'd be nice, but I wouldn't want it to be too warm for the summer months or times when the windows are open. Any comments/suggestions?

Minky doesn't breathe well, and yes, it's really warm.  LittleL has a few blankets that are made at least partially with minky fabric, and I hide them in the summer because otherwise he'd want to sleep with them even when it's 100+ outside.
