I usually suggest Chicago for this type of thing, but in Nov/Dec, that could be a bad idea. I know it's not a driving distance trip, but DH and I traveled to Boston over Thanksgiving when I was pregnant with DS2 and that was pretty fun. Cold and rainy but fun.

I know I am late to this, but we will be going on our babymoon up to the North Shore. Lutsen, MN to be more specific. We are going in October, so it will be fall and the leaves will be beautiful, but it will also be beautiful in Nov/Dec and you can build fires and just relax

I second the Duluth/North Shore. They have special celebrations for "The Gales of November", though I'd say October is prettier (and a better chance of being able to walk/shop around canal park and the the boardwalk. Lots of the more cabin-style/lodge-style hotels have in-room fireplaces.
LaCrosse is also a nice drive and a cute riverfront community with an old downtown. Or Stillwater.
We went to Sand Diego for ours but thats too far. Closer to my due date we will be taking a shorter trip up to Lutsen or Duluth. It will be cold but hopefully we will get a nice room with a fireplace. Have fun wherever you go!
In May I accidentally booked our camping trip for the wrong date and we needed a last minute place to stay and Lutsen was the only available place. We LOVED it! They are so accommodating and friendly and they offer so much! It would be a different experience in the winter but we will be going back sometime for sure
