Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Confusion :)

I want to be able to have a pack-n-play with bassinet in the bedroom for when the baby is first born.  It seems like most of the pack-n-plays say they have a bassinet, but then it doesn't seem cuddly, it just seems like a big space similar to the crib.  This one with the newborn napper seems to be more like what I would imagine a newborn would want to sleep in, but is that right?  Why or why not?  What are other good options for a baby to spend the first month or two sleeping in our room?  A full on bassinet seems like an extraordinary waste of money to me.  So confused.Help?! This is the one I like, but I don't think it has a cuddly component:https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3904374 And this is the one I dislike, but I think the baby might want to sleep in the cuddly part?  I need an education. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3572949&006=5317446990&005=12524851&002=2195185&004=1788333030&007=Search

  • Sorry for intruding on your board, ladies.  But thanks in advance for your input.

  • Definitely check out the Fisher Price Rock & Play Sleeper.  It has worked wonders for our LO.  It only goes up to 25 lbs, but it also only costs $40 if you use a 20% coupon at BRU!  IMO, positively worth the investment.

  • I remember thinking the same thing! My son didn't want to sleep in the (regular) bassinet part of the pack and play. We ended up getting a snuggle nest and he sleeps in it in our bed with us.

  • I was uncomfortable leaving L in the newborn napper for any period of time I wasn't watching her.

She spent several nights asleep on me in the recliner or sleeping in her swing until we figured out how to keep her in a swaddle.  She sleeps in her PNP in the raised bassinet now.

  • My DS has slept in the bassinet feature of the PNP since day 1. In fact, we have never even used the napper part.  I don't think the napper is made for night sleeping, just for naps with mom nearby.  Newborns are not supposed to sleep on really fluffy surfaces for risk of SIDS, the harder, the better.

Hi!  I'm stalking you :)  Just wanted to say that our friends just got the first one and we saw it in person and it's super cute....they aren't having their baby until August, so I don't really know much about it.

I don't have any babies (you know that Big Smile) but the 2nd newborn napper thing doesn't seem very sturdy---I looked at it in person too.  I don't think I would want to leave a baby in it...

    Bye!
